About The Position

ChristianaCare is looking to hire a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support the School Based Health Center's Warner and Shortlidge Elementary Schools. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients and will deliver quality patient care for our students within the DE school district. The Medical Assistant will collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team of Behavioral Health Therapists, Registered Dietitians, Nurse Practitioners, Office Assistants as well as Operational leaders. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm No weekends/holidays

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or Hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
  • 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides the clinical care necessary within the department, including routine, special needs and emergency.
  • Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations while accessing patient information
  • Verifies necessary student/patient forms for provisions of School Based Health Center services.
  • Prepares patients for clinical visits by opening encounters and recording patient vitals.
  • Performs point of care testing, vaccinations, medication administration as per practice needs.
  • Assist clinician with examinations/procedures; chaperoning as needed.
