About The Position

The Medical Assistant functions as a member of the clinic patient care team. The position performs clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients to obtain services in a timely manner and assuring efficient utilization of resources in the coordination of patient care. The Medical Assistant I is an entry-level position with limited or no prior experience; learns to use medical terminology and concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity; works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. Locations Stanford Health Care - University Healthcare Alliance What you will do Job Scope: Performs routine support work and in a learning capacity, assists in but not limited to the following: Patient rooming. Vital signs. Medical records and/or chart preparation. Patient communications. Stocking and cleaning of clinic area. Medication and supply ordering. Medication administration. Specimen collection and/or Point of Care Testing. Injections and other clinic procedures. Patient outreach to address gaps in care & follow-up. Participation in internal clinic audits. Facilitates communication between patient & provider. Participates in the maintenance of department A3. Scribing for providers. Knowledge: Learns to apply general knowledge through work assignments. Basic knowledge of Telemedicine Platforms. Level of Supervision: Works under the supervision of a licensed staff member or provider. Assignments are designed to provide training and practical experience that develops clinical knowledge and skills. Decisions are limited to specific, task-related activities. Requires the manager’s (or designee) oversight of the work performed, while in progress and at its completion, for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with detailed instructions. Work is primarily existing, stable processes and procedures. All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training.
  • 0-1 years of related experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills stated above in CI Care.
  • Basic Computer skills including but not limited to; keyboarding, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records.
  • Basic Electronic Health/Medical Records System exposure.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills required for varying procedures and managing interruptions.
  • Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative and collaborative manner.
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
