Adult Outpatient Psychiatry & Therapy | ChristianaCare As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm Requires flexibility to travel to additional sites and provide cross‑coverage within New Castle County

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
  • Rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Conducting EKGs when needed
  • Support for clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
  • Scheduling tests and surgeries
  • Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Troubleshooting issues with video visits
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
