About The Position

ChristianaCare is looking for a Medical Assistant I to join their Weight Management team As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. You would be joining a team of 1 NP , 3 Registered Dietitians and 4 Adminstrative Assistant's. Center for Weight Management | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday - Wednesday and Friday's: 8:00am - 4:30p Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting patients on-site
  • Rooming patients
  • Preparing patients for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely
  • Adhering to departmental safety rules
  • Promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
