About The Position

ChristianaCare is looking for a Medical Assistant I to join their Plastic Surgery team. As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. This MA position splits responsibilities and performs front office duties that include responding to messages, answering phones, prepares charts for all providers, assist walk-in patients, process new patient packets, manage incoming faxes, scan records, order office supplies, handle in-office referrals, and maintain Outlook calendars for providers. This role is more adminstrative then clinical.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments.
  • Perform front office duties that include responding to messages, answering phones
  • Prepare charts for all providers
  • Assist walk-in patients
  • Process new patient packets
  • Manage incoming faxes
  • Scan records
  • Order office supplies
  • Handle in-office referrals
  • Maintain Outlook calendars for providers
  • Greeting and assisting patients on-site
  • Rooming patients
  • Preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors.
