Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • Experience typically acquired through a minimum of one-year prior experience in a clinical or customer service setting.
  • Computer experience required with the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Assists clinicians with routine clinical procedures and tests in the exam room.
  • Advises patients of preparation and testing required for exams.
  • Ensures all pre-visit work required for exam is completed and that lab and other test results are available in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Delivers excellent customer service and strengthens the patient/clinician relationship through timely and informative interactions with the patients.
  • Improves clinical operations and efficiencies by providing efficient flow of patients.
  • Provides clinical and clerical support to the practice and clinicians related to patient care.
  • May provide direct clinical support to one or more assigned clinicians.
