About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school or two years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs as needed.
  • Check schedules and organize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist them as needed.
  • Send and receive patient medical records and obtain lab/x-ray reports.
  • Complete forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts accordingly.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests.
  • Inventory, order, or re-stock medical supplies as applicable.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments following sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for medications and point of care testing.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and scheduling surgeries/procedures as needed.
  • Perform appointment scheduling and registration for patients, updating demographic and insurance information.
