About The Position

The position is a full-time role within the 01120 GCMG Union Family Medicine department at Advocate Health. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the physician and/or Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) with patient care, including patient intake during office visits, documentation, vaccine and medication administration, and various clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities also include appointment scheduling and maintaining medical records. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for patients across various age groups, including newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, as relevant to the specialty of the office setting. The position involves pre-visit planning, following patient intake procedures, checking vital signs, assisting with medication history, and performing point-of-care testing, among other duties.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification as a CMA or RMA by a recognized national organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and/or ACP with patient care and intake.
  • Document patient information and maintain medical records.
  • Administer vaccines and medications, including injections.
  • Check vital signs, height, and weight of patients.
  • Assist with medication history and updating medication lists.
  • Participate in electronic documentation of care.
  • Perform quality control and maintenance for in-office lab procedures.
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications and emergency equipment.
  • Ensure all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged.
