Requirements

  • Graduate from a medical assistant school and one-year medical office experience preferred
  • Current Medical Certification or Registered Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of equipment and technology used in the nursing area.
  • BLS certification/training and certification
  • Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients; maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Answer phones, take messages, and serve as first point of contact for patient requests
  • Triage patient concerns, identify potential emergencies, and coordinate same-day scheduling when appropriate, utilizing the Lead Nurse as needed
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, insurance forms, hospital services, and laboratory scheduling
  • Collaborate with case management, referral coordination, and clinic staff
  • Support billing by resolving incomplete or missing documentation in a timely manner
  • Room patients for scheduled visits, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, pain assessment, and chief complaint
  • Perform point-of-care testing, treatments, and patient services per established protocols
  • Accurately document all patient interactions and verify patient identifiers prior to documentation
  • Review lab results and reports; ensure appropriate follow-up and provider notification
  • Prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures; assist providers as needed
  • Administer medications safely and accurately via approved routes (oral, IM, IV if applicable)
  • Perform medication dose calculations and maintain annual competency
  • Support RX refill processes and patient education
  • Schedule diagnostic testing and provide patient education for exam preparation
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; perform daily stocking and monthly inventory
  • Ensure proper sterilization and infection control procedures
  • Assist with orientation and training of new medical assistants
  • Support clinic workflows, including inbox coverage, flag management, and cross-team assistance
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, continuing education, and annual competency assessments
  • Maintain current CPR certification and emergency response knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, AAHC, and other regulatory standards
