  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients within the Bassett Healthcare Network.
  • Demonstrate excellence in all patient and customer encounters including face-to-face and telephone interactions.
  • Provide clinical support to ambulatory patient care teams through excellent customer service, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately, and timely with nurses and practitioners regarding patients.
  • Schedule patients for optimum care and provider efficiency.
  • Greet every patient in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Answer phones within 3 rings using a 3-part greeting.
  • Take clear, complete, and accurate phone messages and follow up on these messages.
  • Ensure patient preferences for communication are up to date.
  • Fill out the Interactive Face Sheet and confirm demographic and insurance information.
  • Remind patients that the collection of their copay will be expected.
  • Review the electronic Confirm List daily to confirm appointments with patients.
  • Process electronic or written requests for urgent referrals same day.
  • Perform chart review in preparation for providers' clinic.
  • Ensure all necessary reports, lab work, or films related to appointments are available.
  • Prepare medication refill messages by obtaining all required information.
  • Room patients in a timely manner and identify patients using 2 identifiers.
  • Document patient work-up information accurately.
  • Utilize the EMR clinical documentation system in support of patient care duties.
  • Enter charges for supplies and clinical testing.
  • Communicate patient issues/concerns to providers.
  • Distribute patient literature as necessary.
  • Perform all point of care testing and ensure logbooks are updated.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms daily.
  • Monitor supply levels to improve inventory control.
  • Meet yearly competency requirements as set forth by departmental leadership.
  • Attend required in-services as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintain job specific knowledge and proficiency.
  • Perform similar or related duties as requested or directed.
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, required.
  • Associate degree or higher may be substituted for one year of relevant work experience.
  • Customer service experience, preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant, preferred.
  • BLS Certification, preferred.
