  • Follows OSHA recommendations regarding housekeeping duties.
  • Handles incoming calls from patients regarding illness, requests for medications/refills, and documents information per policy and procedure.
  • Documents appropriately.
  • Calls for reports from facilities and ensures they are available to providers.
  • Handles outgoing calls to patients with responses from providers, including calling or faxing prescriptions.
  • Provides patients with complete information regarding tests or procedures, including preparation requirements.
  • Handles emails from patients and responses from providers.
  • Schedules appointments for patients as requested by incoming calls from patients or providers, following parameters set by each physician.
  • Occasionally schedules physician referrals and lab/diagnostic studies at the hospital and other facilities.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing faxes to and from facilities and pharmacies.
  • Graduate of an approved medical assisting program.
  • Six months related experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, listening to symptoms/complaints and providing instructions.
  • Ability to relay information to co-workers and physicians.
