About The Position

The Medical Assistant - Front Office plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow and registration at Family HealthCare Network. This position involves various front office responsibilities, including patient monitoring, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate patient records. The Medical Assistant will also assist with the mobile health unit, ensuring it is clean, stocked, and operational for patient visits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification preferred; Administrative Medical Assistant Certification may be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prepare complex documents and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support and monitor patient flow during visits.
  • Scrub appointments in advance to ensure necessary information is available.
  • Assist in the distribution of patients, including walk-ins.
  • Assess patient's health needs by taking temperature and collecting symptoms.
  • Inform patients of wait times and ensure proper flow in the system.
  • Schedule patient appointments and perform check-in duties.
  • Collect accurate demographics and insurance eligibility information.
  • Register new and established patients according to workflows.
  • Capture and update insurance information in patient records.
  • Complete enrollment and necessary forms for financial programs.
  • Ensure forms and insurance cards are scanned and indexed timely.
  • Address documents within e-fax folders.
  • Collect nominal fees and patient balances at check-in.
  • Reconcile and deposit all payments collected at the end of the shift.
  • Generate daily bank deposit and reporting to Finance department.
  • Obtain medical record releases and process requests.
  • Document in the patient's electronic health record according to policy.
  • Follow procedures for opening and closing the health center.
  • Perform back office duties as required.
  • Maintain the mobile health unit, including cleaning and restocking.
  • Drive the mobile health unit to designated locations and maintain vehicle logs.
  • Assist disabled passengers and children into and out of the vehicle.
  • Report any vehicle safety or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
