About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Hoag's Foothill Ranch Urgent Care is responsible for maintaining a professional environment and ensuring smooth patient access and flow. This role involves assisting with non-clinical tasks, scheduling patients, managing pre-authorization processes, and acting as a liaison between providers and patients. The MA will collaborate with staff to ensure proper records and testing are completed prior to appointments, while providing updates to patients and staff regarding their health and treatment options.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or one year previous medical back-office experience, preferably in an acute healthcare system environment.
• Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
• Minimum one year previous medical back-office experience, preferably in an acute healthcare system environment.
• Working knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly professional environment for patients and physicians.
• Assist with scheduling patients for follow-up visits, imaging, and lab work.
• Manage the pre-authorization process for patient services.
• Act as a liaison between providers and patients to facilitate communication.
• Ensure all proper records are received and testing is completed prior to appointments or surgeries.
• Provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status of tasks affecting patient health and treatment options.
• Ensure even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
