The Medical Assistant assists physicians as they assess, examine and treat patients. This role involves managing patient flow and performing various diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and taking vitals. The Medical Assistant acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction and maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed. They interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson, escort patients to exam rooms, and ensure proper identification. The position requires proficiency in the use and documentation within information technology systems and adherence to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

  • Manage patient flow and perform various diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and taking vitals.

  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and various diagnostic procedures.
  • Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth operations of the office.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes at least 330 hours of instruction and training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • Current Einstein employee in a Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 may not require certification.
