Nemours is seeking a Medical Assistant (Primary Care - Maitland), FULL-TIME, to join our Primary Care Float team in Maitland, Florida. This position is part of a dedicated team that provides a kid-friendly, family-centered pediatric primary care experience for families in Central Florida. With 18 primary care and three urgent care practices conveniently located throughout the region, Nemours is committed to delivering quality, professional pediatric services with a strong emphasis on preventive care and whole-child wellness. As a Medical Assistant on the float team, you will have the unique opportunity to grow your skills and explore various primary care clinics, enhancing your professional development while providing essential clinical care to patients. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth patient flow within the clinic. This includes greeting patients and families, preparing them for provider examinations, obtaining vital signs, and preparing laboratory specimens. You will also perform in-office laboratory tests, enter results into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), administer immunizations, and provide prescribed medications, including oral, injectable, and inhaled forms. Maintaining and reviewing patient EMRs and ensuring accurate documentation for provider reviews is crucial, as is following up on cultures, labs, and outside testing ordered. Additionally, you will prepare equipment and rooms, assist physicians during treatments, examinations, procedures, and testing of patients, and ensure that exam rooms are clean and stocked with necessary supplies. You will be responsible for carrying out provider orders, arranging for patient diagnostic testing at outside facilities, scheduling referrals, and managing prescription orders and refills. Ensuring the safe storage of medications and immunizations, as well as evaluating expiration dates monthly, is also part of your responsibilities. You will answer and respond to phone calls as needed, schedule patients according to their needs, and document calls according to established guidelines.
