About The Position
The Medical Assistant (Float Pool) position at SSM Health is a vital role that supports the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals such as nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, or physicians. This role is designed for individuals who are looking to start their careers in healthcare, as no prior experience is required. The position operates on a PRN (per diem) basis, allowing for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the healthcare facility and its patients. In this role, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of clinical and clerical tasks. These include assisting with treatments as directed by the supervising provider, performing clinical duties such as interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and accurately recording patient information in charts. The Medical Assistant will also prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for use. Additionally, the position involves basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining patient records, and filing documents. The Medical Assistant will play a key role in managing materials by ordering and stocking supplies, as well as maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the clinical setting. Safety is paramount, and the Medical Assistant is expected to work in a constant state of alertness, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Other duties may be assigned as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare team.
