About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Children's Hospital Colorado provides essential clinical and administrative support to patients and healthcare providers. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• One year of experience in a direct healthcare role may substitute for graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for healthcare visits by directing and accompanying them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, and arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Conducts quality checks and verifies patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment.
• Supports patient care delivery by assisting healthcare providers during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic testing, and disposing of contaminated supplies.
• Cleans or prepares medical instruments for sterilization and administers medications per policy and procedures.
• Assists in balancing workloads and coordinates clinic flow by monitoring patient flow and coordinating with providers.
• Provides phlebotomy services and completes lab test follow-up and medical record documentation.
• Prepares and completes medical records for visits by recording patient information, treatment, and test results, and assists with patient 'MyChart' enrollment.
