About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing the delegated nursing functions under the direction of the department manager and clinical nurses. This position is responsible for assisting with direct patient care and clerical duties that are an essential function in the coordination of optimal patient care, including, but not limited to scheduling patients, patient hygiene/toileting, mobility assistance, interdepartmental transportation, vital signs, charting, ordering supplies, cleaning and stocking patient areas, chart audits and interaction with all areas of the department.

Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training course at a vocational/technical school.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant externship.
• Two (2) or more years of job-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care under the direction of the department manager and clinical nurses.
• Perform clerical duties essential for optimal patient care coordination.
• Schedule patients and assist with patient hygiene/toileting.
• Provide mobility assistance and interdepartmental transportation.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Conduct charting and ordering of supplies.

• Perform chart audits and interact with all areas of the department.
