About The Position

The Medical Assistant at Ephrata Cancer Center Infusion provides safe, therapeutic, and efficient care to patients. This role involves assisting in direct patient care, performing treatments, administering medications under supervision, and instructing patients and their families in appropriate care. The Medical Assistant is an active participant in a patient-centered practice, contributing to the development of workflows that support patient care.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Medical Assistant or Practical Nurse required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant upon hire required.
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or National Medical Assistant Certification upon hire required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document reason for visit and patient vital signs.
  • Collect specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Ensure patient care areas are stocked with medical supplies and equipment is in good condition.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures and ensure proper setup of instruments and supplies.
  • Arrange for patients' diagnostic and therapeutic services by completing necessary paperwork and scheduling appointments.
  • Track, review, and monitor follow-up of diagnostic test results under the direction of the provider.
  • Relay information from the provider to the patient regarding results and follow-up instructions.
  • Prepare and administer vaccines and medications under supervision as prescribed by the provider.
  • Document and process prescription requests and refills per protocol.
  • Perform basic office procedures and examinations as ordered by the provider.
  • Provide patients with standard care instructions and education as directed by providers.
  • Obtain comprehensive health information from patients and family members.
  • Manage daily patient flow and prioritize care tasks delegated by the care team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient health information.
  • Support the provider during visits by collecting and entering information in the patient record.
