We deliver endocrinology and diabetes care in an outpatient setting located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (20000 Washington Street in the White building, Suite 546 in Newton, MA). Our endocrinologists help people with diabetes and hormonal disorders successfully manage their conditions. Patients receive state-of-the-art diabetes treatment through our team’s advanced and effective techniques. Conditions treated: - Diabetes management - Osteoporosis - Thyroid disorders and tumors - General endocrinology We are seeking a per diem Medical Assistant to support the practice on-site with varied hours/shifts to cover vacancies and call-outs. We are open Monday through Friday and the shifts times are 8:00am-4:30pm or 7:30pm-4:00pm. Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner. Job Summary Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
• Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required

Nice To Haves

• Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
• Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
• Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
• Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
• Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
• Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
