About The Position

The Medical Assistant - Family Practice - Durant, Oklahoma position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture, and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. The role also involves recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines, preparing treatment rooms for the examination of patients, and assisting in covering the front desk as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).
  • General medical office procedures knowledge.
  • Understanding of end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol).
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
