Requirements

  • Able to triage patient problems
  • Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA , infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen S tandards
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments
  • Experience administering injections
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Knowledge of office financial policies
  • Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization
  • Able to operate standard office equipment ( i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc )
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Ability to work in an effective , cooperativ e, and courteous manner with staff , patients, and visitors
  • Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to read , understand and follow oral and written instruction
  • Ab ility to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically
  • Education and Experience: High School Graduate or GED required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track preferred
  • CPR certified preferred
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred

  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Escort p atient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Organize patient flow
  • Setup p rocedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to i nstructions
  • Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan
  • Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed
  • Check to-dos/Nurse line
  • Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule
  • Keep appropriate records of maintenance
  • Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records
  • Maintain infection control and make sure s upply rooms and cabinets are stocked
  • Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients , thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable
  • Anesthesia/Inject for p rocedures
  • Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner
  • Must maintain HIPAA compliance
  • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management
