About The Position

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • 3+ years of experience in a medical office or outpatient setting.
  • Proficiency in EPIC and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills in all formats: written, phone, electronic, in-person.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information in a discrete manner.
  • Ability to multitask and change priorities to best meet patient needs.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or primary care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to examination rooms.
  • Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and chief complaints.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor medical procedures.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by physicians.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests such as blood draws, urinalysis, and specimen collection.
  • Coordinate and schedule diagnostic tests and imaging studies.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical instruments.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Verify and update patient information in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Handle patient inquiries, both in-person and over the phone, with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Assist with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Collaborate with the front desk, nursing staff, and other medical assistants to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Relay important information between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Provide patients with information on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Educate patients on proper health maintenance and lifestyle choices.
  • Assist in developing educational materials for patients.
  • Adhere to all applicable healthcare regulations and maintain compliance with privacy laws.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to practice protocols.
