About The Position

MEDICAL ASSISTANT The Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic's mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. OR Certified Medical Assistant The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System's (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. OR Medical Assistant - Apprentice The Medical Assistant - Apprentice works under the direction of a Medical Assistant mentor for on-the-job training to provide basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant - Apprentice performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System's (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program will provide Medical Assistant training to learn how to be a medical assistant at Marshfield Clinic Health System. No clinical experience is necessary for candidates. Once hired at Marshfield Clinic Health System one will need to be enrolled/accepted into the clinic paid Medical Assistant ICATAP program prior to starting the apprenticeship. The apprentice would work in a clinic department 32 hours per week as a Medical Assistant - Apprentice and then would be paid for 8 hours per week of educational training time for a total of 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
  • Documented successful completion of the following courses or (their recognized course equivalent): Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class.
  • Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class.
  • Pharmacology from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of Medical Assistant-related work experience and completion of the required educational courses listed above within the first 12 months from hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma OR applicable coursework to obtain license below.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association or Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant registry from the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of Wisconsin or equivalent, National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Enrollment in ICATAP MA Apprenticeship Program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
  • Experience in healthcare.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course.
  • Graduate of a vocational technical Health Unit Coordinator Program, Medical Office Specialist, or Medical Secretary.
  • Six months' previous experience with MCHS or related entity.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
