About The Position

Join our dedicated care team! We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Gastroenterology providers in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Locations: Davidson & Denver, NC (travel between locations required)

Requirements

  • RMA or CMA certification required.
  • Two year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through ongoing education.
  • Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations / satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
  • Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to Physicians, Advanced Care Providers, and RNs in the delivery of gastrointestinal care.
  • Greet and room patients; verify patient identity using two identifiers; obtain vital signs, medical history, medication/allergy updates, and current symptoms.
  • Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness, and ensure all supplies and equipment are stocked and safe.
  • Assist with clinical procedures such as breath tests, pill cam placements, and specimen collection.
  • Complete lab requisitions and prepare specimens for pickup.
  • Document all clinical information accurately in the EHR and ensure medical charts remain current.
  • Manage prescription refills, pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals.
  • Triage patient calls according to protocol and schedule appointments.
  • Educate patients on procedures, conditions, and care plans.
  • Ensure timely scheduling and follow-up on labs, imaging, and procedure orders.
  • Contribute to patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, AAAHC).
  • Support practice operations through teamwork, communication, and a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope.
