The Medical Assistant Clinical Educator is considered the expert level Medical Assistant tasked with orienting and evaluating the skill set of Medical Assistants at designated Chase Brexton locations. The Clinical Educator-MA assists in the planning, organization and execution of Medical Assistant training programs, field orientation and evaluation as identified through needs assessment, quality improvement, and implementation of new products and technology. The Clinical Educator-Medical Assistant works collaboratively with nursing leadership and other educators to train Medical Assistants across the organization.

  • Performs administrative duties
  • Participates in and contributes to the investigation of incident reports related to clinical functions
  • Performs chart audits and prepare reports
  • Collaborates with Nursing, Operations and Medical Management to meet organizational needs
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team to facilitate the organization's ability to meet its goals and objectives
  • Facilitates new employee clinical orientation, routine competency training/validation, evaluation and ongoing education needs of Medical Assistants
  • Travels to various clinical sites routinely for field orientation, annual competency, regular in-services and trainings
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, judgment, and ability to instruct and evaluate clinical staff
  • Seeks continuous feedback from providers on the clinical performance of medical assistants
  • Reports progress and remedial needs to the direct supervisor
  • Maintains and submits detailed and accurate records to HR
  • Maintains ongoing knowledge and research of current trends and best practices
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
  • Assists in identifying opportunities for improvement of clinical workflow and generates effective educational material and training
  • Maintains up to date data base of teaching aides and clinical tools for medical assistant staff
  • Remediates staff and provides documentation to support steps taken
  • Participates in the development of policies, workflows and procedures in collaboration with nursing leadership
  • Trains staff to approved policies, workflows and procedures
  • Demonstrates and models respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration
  • Minimum of four years of experience; preferred minimum of 1 year in a Supervisory/Training role
  • Demonstrated knowledge requirements pertaining to efficient clinical workflows
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish relationships with key constituents
  • Excellent discretion, judgment, tact, initiative, organizational skills, and self-motivation
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate and assess situations accurately and recommend/implement effective courses of action
  • Ability to work with all members of the clinical team and help build relationships that foster an effective/efficient work environment
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on clinical performance
  • Ability to perform the functions of the Medical Assistant role
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
