About The Position

As a Medical Assistant at Dermatologists of Central States (DOCS), you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced dermatology practice. This position requires a multi-skilled professional who is responsible for general clinical and procedural patient care under the supervision of the Practice Manager and/or center Physicians/Providers. You will be an integral part of the healthcare team, assisting in patient care management and ensuring that patients receive the best possible experience during their visits. Your responsibilities will include verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical histories, and confirming the purpose of their visits. You will enter this information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and escort patients to the exam rooms. It will be essential to ask pertinent medical questions and ensure accurate data entry into the EHR. You will prepare patients for their exams by providing them with necessary materials and assisting physicians during medical examinations and procedures. In addition to direct patient care, you will be responsible for scheduling medical procedures, instructing patients on the proper usage of medications, and managing prescription requests. Your role will also involve changing wound dressings, removing sutures, performing in-office phlebotomy, and collecting, logging, and packaging lab specimens for transport. Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures is also a key aspect of this position. You will be expected to keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt, as well as completing phone triage and notifying patients of pathology and lab results. Scribing office visits and administering medications as ordered will also be part of your daily tasks.
