The Certified Medical Assistant performs direct patient care under the direction of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one (1) year of applicable Medical Assistant experience in a patient care setting
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
  • Active Medical Assistant certification or registration (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NRCMA, or equivalent)

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of direct patient care experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures
  • Prepare patients for visits and collect patient histories and vital signs
  • Administer routine treatments and approved medications
  • Document patient care, procedures, and education in the electronic medical record
  • Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders as directed
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members
  • Coordinate scheduling and act as a liaison for specialty testing or referrals
  • Support front office functions as needed, including phones and scheduling
  • Maintain compliance with policies, safety standards, and infection control practices
