Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or at least 1 year of verifiable experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification
  • Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, etc.) from an approved registry or certifying body
  • Strong communication, patient service, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Providing patient care under the direction of physicians or Advanced Practice Providers in an ambulatory setting
  • Gathering patient information through interview and observation
  • Preparing patients and families for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting during examinations and clinical procedures
  • Performing routine treatments and administering approved medications
  • Documenting patient data, treatments, and education according to Orlando Health and department protocols
  • Handling incoming and outgoing calls with professionalism and sound clinical judgment
  • Entering provider‑directed orders for medications, labs, and diagnostic imaging
  • Supporting scheduling needs such as specialty referrals, tests, and follow‑ups
  • Working closely with administrative and operations teams to ensure seamless patient flow
