About The Position

A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advance Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum Required Education: Certified Medical Assistant
• Experience: One year of Medical Training Preferred but not required
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Medical Assistant Certification
• American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position
• High School or better in Other
• Technical/other training or better in Medical Assisting
• Basic Life Saving Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Responsible for rooming patients and prepare them for examination
• Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR
• Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history
• Preps procedure room for minor procedure and assist with those procedures as needed
• Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type
• Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily
• Assist physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations
• Draws blood, perform EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within clinic
• Manages Physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imagining, labs, scheduling surgeries, of referral to specialist
• Confirm all orders are completed and that results have been returned
• Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed
• Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments
• Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
