Requirements

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or comparable military training and experience.
• One year of experience in a physician office is preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
• AHA BLS-HCP Certification is required.
• Effective communication skills to work with the public and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
• Computer skills to utilize database systems and keyboarding for electronic medical records are required.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient assessment data including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaints/symptoms, and current medications.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluations by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, and assisting during procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas, exam treatment rooms, and labs; restock supplies and sterilize equipment as needed.
• Assist with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens and preparing blood samples for reference labs, ensuring accurate labeling.
• Document patient information in medical records, including treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
