About The Position

As a Medical Assistant at Carilion Clinic, you will play a crucial role in providing technical clinical services and clerical support to ensure quality patient care. You will work closely with licensed staff, physicians, and mid-level practitioners to support the delivery of healthcare services.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or comparable military training and experience preferred.
• One year of experience in a physician office preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
• AHA BLS-HCP Certification required.
• Effective communication skills to work with the public.
• Computer skills to utilize database systems for job duties.
• Problem-solving skills and keyboarding proficiency for electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient assessment data including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaints, and current medications.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluations by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, and assisting during procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas, exam rooms, and labs; restock supplies and sterilize equipment as needed.
• Assist with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens and preparing blood samples for reference labs.
• Document patient information in medical records, including treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
