About The Position

Upstate Community Medical, P.C. at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus is looking for energetic Medical Assistants to join our growing outpatient OB/GYN team. The Medical Assistant performs clinical and clerical support activities to deliver quality patient care. Please note this is not a NY State position; the employer is Upstate Community Medical, P.C.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Medical office Assistant Program.
  • One year of direct medical office assistant experience.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to speak and hear sufficient to communicate with patients and others.
  • Ability to view a monitor/screen and enter data.
  • Ability to physically assist patients as needed.
  • Adheres to UCM's policies and procedures and acts in the best interest of the Organization and its patients.
  • Promotes teamwork with coworkers.
  • Meets or exceeds expected performance standards, including consistently reporting to work on time, prepared to perform duties of position.

Responsibilities

  • Triages patient by taking vital signs, such as height, weight, and blood pressure
  • Prepares patient charts for providers
  • Creates and maintains electronic patient records
  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains necessary authorizations for services
  • Coordinates and maintains patient schedules
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients during their visit
  • Maintains exam room supplies and prepares for minor procedure
  • Assists with surgical scheduling as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
