Requirements

• Experience in either an urgent care, family practice or clinic specialty office preferred.
• National certification from NCCT, NHA, AMT, or AAMA required.
• Current BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and alerts physicians to potential life-threatening situations.
• Recognizes critical diagnostic data and alerts the physician in a timely fashion.
• Recognizes changes in patient condition and reports appropriately.
• Determines priorities of care and intervenes in those cases falling outside the parameters of normal clinic protocol.
• Anticipates the need for selected diagnostic tests and initiates testing according to protocols.
• Recognizes variations in patient flow, and adjusts work effort to reflect the needs of the department.
• Ensures adequate discharge instructions are given to each patient, that family members are included in discharge instructions if available, that patients are referred for future care appropriately, and the community resource information is available to patients.
• Performs waived laboratory testing procedures according to protocols; demonstrates continued competency in patient testing, quality control and proficiency testing.
• Demonstrates adequate knowledge and expertise with regard to medication safety/security and administration within scope of practice and appropriate clinic protocols.
• Demonstrates competency in all areas of clinical care encompassed within the clinic setting.
