About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake - Neurosurgery has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). The Neurological Surgery Clinic at UW Medical Center - Montlake is an international leader and pioneer in the care and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. We take a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to complex neurosurgical problems such as tumors, degenerative disease, vascular lesions, epilepsy, spinal anomalies, peripheral nerve disorders, chronic pain and spasticity, movement disorders and developmental defects. Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
• Perform injections
• Prepare and clean exam rooms
• Submit medication prior authorizations
• Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
• Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers
• Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
• Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
• Assist in transporting patients as required
