Family Medicine Clinic at Harborview has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). Our healthcare professionals are board-certified in family medicine and treat patients of all ages. Family physicians are specialists who complete a residency in family medicine. They receive broad training beyond general medicine in obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry and geriatrics. Our healthcare professionals provide a range of services including those specific to women's health. Other services include pregnancy tests, prenatal care, family planning, well-child exams, immunizations, hearing and vision screenings, psychiatric consultations, medication management and recommendations for continued psychiatric care. As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Perform injections
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Submit medication prior authorizations
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
Assist in transporting patients as required
