MA / Medical Assistant - Primary Care at Kirkland
About The Position
UW Medicine Primary Care at Kirkland has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This position is supporting the Urgent Care Clinic. Urgent Care at Kirkland provides same-day care for minor illnesses and injuries that are not emergencies for both adults and kids, seven days a week ( see our holiday schedule ). For infants under 2 months old, please contact your child’s primary care provider directly. We welcome new patients and walk-ins and offer free parking. UW Medicine Primary Care is a network of clinics located throughout the Puget Sound region. The clinics offer a wide spectrum of primary care services, as well as secondary care, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Urgent care services are offered seven days a week at select locations. Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
