About The Position
UW Medical Center-Northwest - Heart Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). Located in north Seattle, Heart Institute at UW Medical Center – Northwest provides a wide range of cardiac services, including early prevention, risk assessment and acute and chronic disease management. Our specialists are experienced in handling cardiovascular problems including hyperlipidemia, coronary and peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias and heart failure. Services offered include ECGs, heart catheterization and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, arrhythmia management, stress testing, echocardiography, anticoagulation services and cardiac rehabilitation. Advanced cardiology services are available at UW Medical Center – Montlake. UW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest. Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
