About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake - Gynecology Oncology on 8SE has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Gynecologic oncologists and other women's health medical experts make up the dedicated and supportive team at our Gynecology Oncology Clinic located at UW Medical Center – Montlake. We offer comprehensive assessment and treatment of cancers and pre-invasive disease in a woman’s reproductive system, including uterine, cervical, vaginal, endometrial, ovarian and vulvar cancers and gestational trophoblastic disease. Our providers are highly specialized and are involved in innovative research and the development of new cancer treatments that may improve your specific treatment. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
