About The Position

Tidelands Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join their team. The Certified Medical Assistant is an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care. This role involves performing routine administrative and patient care supportive duties within a Health System medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients, ensuring the clinic/office operates smoothly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related customer facing experience
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Phlebotomy skills and experience
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association OR Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants OR Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist OR National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams
  • Performing and documenting vital signs
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
  • Performing EKGs
  • Using CPR skills when required
  • Drawing blood
  • Providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
  • Responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  • Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
