A Day in YOUR Life as a Medical Assistant Certification Training (MACT 2.0) Internship Complete your externship as an MA intern with Orlando Health. Interns will complete structured onboarding and hands-on training alongside experienced providers and clinical professionals across a variety of departments. As confidence and skills develop, interns explore different practice settings to identify their best fit within a professional medical office environment. Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care, assisting providers with clinical procedures, and supporting the coordination of care for patients with complex medical needs. Medical Assistant interns who demonstrate strong performance will typically transition into Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) roles within the organization in approximately 8 weeks.

Requirements

  • Passing score on an MA certification exam (or anticipated by May 29, 2026)
  • BLS certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent (or anticipated by May 29)
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant school (or anticipated by July 30, 2026)
  • Ability to travel to clinical sites across the greater Orlando area
  • No prior experience required

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the clinic and operational staff and follows the directions of the Office Manager or Supervisor, Academic Program Manager and Certified Medical Assistant Preceptor
  • Gathers patient data through interview and observation under direct supervision
  • Provides routine patient care under direct supervision, consistent with the educational level and skill learned in the academic setting
  • Assists patients and families with preparation for examination under direct supervision
