About The Position

UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join their team in McMurray, PA. This role is focused on providing support in a pediatric office environment, ensuring the best care for children and assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. Weekend availability is required to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR Certification required based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Prior pediatric office experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information into the medical record.
  • Answer calls and provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
  • Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
  • Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Check schedules and organize patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure room and assist them as needed.
  • Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, and performing screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Relay instructions to patients/families.
