About The Position

Be the first smile. Be the steady hand. Be part of the care team. Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our outpatient clinical teams. This role is essential to delivering high-quality patient care by assisting providers with clinical and administrative functions while ensuring a smooth, efficient clinic experience for our patients. The Medical Assistant works under the direction of a licensed medical provider and plays a vital role in patient care, clinic operations, and team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • High school diploma required
  • Completion and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • BLS certification preferred (must obtain within 90 days if not already certified)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR systems preferred (one year)
  • BLS certification preferred (must obtain within 90 days if not already certified)

Responsibilities

  • Professionally assist providers, staff, visitors, and patients
  • Register patients according to established protocols
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Accurately assess patients and collect medical histories
  • Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and diagnostic testing
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments
  • Perform first aid and recognize medical emergencies
  • Collect and process specimens, including blood draws
  • Perform waived laboratory tests
  • Screen and follow up on patient test results
  • Prepare and administer medications and injections, including vaccinations, as directed
  • Transmit prescription refills as directed
  • Perform EKGs
  • Assist with minor office procedures
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records
  • Complete insurance forms and patient documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Manage inventory and order supplies
  • Schedule patient appointments and procedures
  • Follow up on patient visits and test results
  • Update patient charts and order lab tests
  • Assist with billing and insurance coordination
  • Manage petty cash as assigned
