The position involves a variety of essential functions that include obtaining vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, height, pulse, respirations, and temperature. The role requires recording patients' medical and social history along with information such as test results, and timely charting utilizing eClinicalWorks. The Medical Assistant will prepare and administer medications as directed and supervised by a provider, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens appropriately, and prepare them for specific tests. Additionally, the position involves preparing examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, sterilizing instruments, and disposing of contaminated supplies. Compliance with all SHC policies and procedures along with HIPAA regulations is mandatory. The Medical Assistant will provide accurate information and appropriate assistance to patients, visitors, and the medical team of the clinic, using good judgment in dealing with difficult patients. Participation in staff meetings and continuing education is expected, along with data entry into eCW, inventory management of medical supplies, and managing the medical office infection control plan to meet OSHA and CDC standards. The role may also involve assisting in projects such as quality assurance studies as directed by the Medical Director or Clinic Director, and performing other duties as assigned.
