JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant is responsible for facilitation of patient care through the delivery of timely, quality patient health services. This position is also responsible for assisting provider staff with procedures as needed.

  • Able to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions in Spanish.
  • LPN license required
  • BLS certification
  • Standing for long periods of time. Some bending, stooping and stretching. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience is preferred or equivalent to education/skills
  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Xray Limited Scope certification preferred, compensation given
  • Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
  • EMT License

Responsibilities

  • Work with medical staff to provide support, contact patients, follow up with patients, and maintain files and policies for clinical procedures.
  • Room patients in exam rooms: including taking vital signs, history, and preparing patient and equipment to be seen by the provider.
  • Collect specimens and perform routine diagnostic procedures including EKGs, audiograms, vision and hearing screenings, ear irrigations, TB skin tests, spirometry, assisting with minor surgery and other procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations per provider order.
  • Receive patient calls and messages for providers.
  • Fax and email correspondence for providers.
  • Coordinate referrals to outside providers and scheduling outside appointments.
  • Complete pre-visit planning prior to patient appointment to obtain all necessary information and reports for provider review.
  • Responsible for daily stocking and cleaning of patient rooms to facilitate efficient, and quality patient care.
  • Perform infection control procedures through the regular cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments.
  • Report maintenance and cleaning service issues to manager.
  • Facilitate relationship between patient and provider.
  • Develop relationships with patients, family, and outside agencies to facilitate coordination of care.
  • Follow through to resolve service problems promptly and professionally with the involvement of appropriate clinic staff.
  • Alert patient to provider changes and/or delays in schedule.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
