About The Position
The Medical Assistant at Dermatologists of Central States (DOCS) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment. This position is designed for a multi-skilled professional who will work under the supervision of the Practice Manager and/or center Physicians/Providers. The Medical Assistant is an integral part of the healthcare team, assisting in various aspects of patient care management, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of service in a friendly and caring atmosphere. In this role, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for verifying patient information through interviews, recording medical histories, and confirming the purpose of visits. They will enter this information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, escort patients to exam rooms, and prepare them for examinations by providing necessary materials. The Medical Assistant will also assist physicians during medical examinations and procedures, schedule medical procedures, and instruct patients on the proper usage of medications. Additional responsibilities include taking photographs, changing wound dressings, performing in-office phlebotomy, collecting and packaging lab specimens, sterilizing medical instruments, and maintaining inventory of medical supplies. The Medical Assistant will also handle phone triage, notify patients of pathology and lab results, scribe office visits, and administer medications as ordered. Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and procedures is also a key aspect of this role.
