About The Position

The Medical Assistant at Bellamy Health Center, part of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by ensuring efficient patient flow and assisting healthcare providers during office visits. This full-time position involves a rotating schedule and emphasizes collaboration within a team to enhance patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Currently working as Medical Assistant with minimum of one year of experience, or successful completion of Medical Assistant School/Program or have completed comparable training within discipline of EMT or equivalent military training
  • Six months experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Must obtain a national Medical Assistant certification within 1 year of employment
  • AHA or ARC BLS within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office
  • Assisting during office visits (rooming, examinations, immunizations, phlebotomy, point of care testing, procedures, and treatments as directed)
  • Performing clinically appropriate tasks related to patient panel management (phone calls, test results, prescription refill, coordination of care, etc.)
  • Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas
  • Performing the functions of a front desk representative during times when the office is not as busy from a clinical perspective and as directed/assigned
  • Interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs
  • Floating to other departments in the WHP system when appropriate and needed during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances for cross-coverage purposes
