About The Position

West Cecil Health Center (WCHC) is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for our Behavioral Health department, to join our team. WCHC is a thriving nonprofit, community health organization that provides comprehensive and collaborative patient centered healthcare services. Based primarily in Conowinogo, some travel to Elkton or Havre de Grace may be required. Bilingual is a plus.  WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY? Education reimbursement Position Summary: Medical Assistants collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care in Behavioral Health. Key duties involve supporting providers, preparing patients for exams, conducting essential medical procedures, and facilitating efficient clinic operations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or CNA program is preferred.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care, behavioral health, or ambulatory care setting is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and medical software; familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Products is advantageous.
  • A positive attitude and dedication to providing excellent patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care, behavioral health, or ambulatory care setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and medical software; familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Products is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Support: Warmly greet and prepare patients for appointments, ensuring a comfortable environment.
  • Educate and support patients regarding their care and treatment options.
  • Information Management & Administration: Accurately obtain and document patient medical history, vital signs, and chief complaints.
  • Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and maintain the confidentiality and security of medical information.
  • Handle patient inquiries, answer phone calls, and ensure accurate documentation for administrative tasks.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries in an efficient and timely manner
  • Coordinate referrals, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Clinical Assistance: Assist healthcare professionals during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Under supervision, perform basic medical procedures, including administering injections, collecting specimens, and conducting routine tests.
  • Processes refill requests following the standing order protocol.
  • Assist with patient transport and moving medical equipment as needed.
  • Equipment & Supply Management: Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Manage medical supply inventory and perform preventative maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Compliance & Team Collaboration: Adhere to infection control protocols, safety regulations, HIPAA, HITECH, and quality assurance standards.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient clinic operations, high-quality patient care, and a positive patient experience.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated with industry trends, new procedures, and advancements in medical technology.
  • Additional Duties: Bilingual employees: Provide communication and translation assistance to patients within the scope of the role.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
