About The Position

The Medical Assistant / Back Office Coordinator (MA/OC) at SIMEDHealth is a full-time role responsible for supervising Medical Assistant staff while providing clinical and administrative support in a Primary Care setting. This position requires a blend of medical assisting skills and leadership capabilities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining high standards of patient care and service. The MA/OC acts as a role model for clinical staff, promotes teamwork, and is a key point of contact for patients and staff alike.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required.
  • Medical Assistant, LPN, or similar background or certification required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a medical or hospital setting required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years in a supervisory role in a healthcare setting required.
  • Electronic health record experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Specialization in Medical Office Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise MA staff and oversee patient services functions.
  • Provide clinical care including vital signs and assisting physicians with procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Gather insurance and authorization information accurately and timely.
  • Train, coordinate, and orient new staff members.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate staff time off and workflow.
  • Monitor staff hours and sign off on timecards.
  • Oversee supply ordering and drug samples.
  • Review patient charts for appropriate documentation.
  • Room patients and document vital signs in the EHR.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the provider.
  • Triage and screen telephone calls and retrieve voice mail messages promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work and nurse's station area.
  • Prepare insurance forms for physician's signature.
  • Assist with the ordering of medical supplies and cost containment.
  • Draw blood and obtain urine samples for lab preparation.
  • Coordinate vaccine ordering for the division and other locations.
