About The Position

The position is for a Medical Assistant in the GCMG North Charlotte Internal Medicine department, located in Huntersville. This is a full-time role with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The pay range for this position is between $21.45 and $32.20 per hour. The Medical Assistant will adhere to the scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on their area of specialty while providing patient care. Responsibilities include performing rooming tasks, assisting providers with procedures, conducting lab-related duties, administering medications and vaccines, and maintaining a clean work environment. The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification needs to be obtained within 45 days for certain divisions.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within 1 year in select areas.
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab-related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, and results tracking.
  • Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and appointment scheduling.
  • Cross-trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice.
  • Demonstrates effective and timely communication and teamwork.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are in working order.
